A few of our favourite things to do near Horsey

Welcome to our lovely local area. There’s so much to do — too much to list, in fact — but here are just a few of our favourite local places and activities you should check out if you’re staying with us.

  • The Great Barn — this recently-refurbished, grade I-listed thatched Tudor barn is just on our doorstep in Waxham — a real slice of local heritage and history. It’s the longest one of its kind in the county, featuring lively exhibitions and even boasting its own café serving up delicious homemade delicacies.

  • Sea Palling — just up the road is an award-winning, Blue Flag beach. Clean, tidy, golden and dog-friendly, it’s the perfect backdrop for a crisp morning stroll or afternoon saunter.

  • Seal spotting at Horsey — take a short walk into the delightful village of Horsey and its beach. We’d recommend a visit to Brograve Mill or the National Trust Horsey Windpump whilst looking out over Horsey Mere. That’s followed, of course, by a refreshment at the Nelson Head pub.

  • Norfolk Broads National Park — from Wroxham to Horning, this gorgeous wildlife-filled waterway network has no shortage of beautiful little villages, each bursting with character (and opportunities for boat hire!).

  • Great Yarmouth — where do we start? Yarmouth’s a true British seaside treasure trove of fun. Make sure to head to SEA LIFE Aquarium for the opportunity to marvel at incredible sea creatures, and also check out The Marine Parade — also known as the Golden Mile — offering endless amusements and activities.

  • Museum of the Broads — steep yourselves in Norfolk history with a short, 15-minute drive to Stalham Staithe. Discover the stories of the Broads; the people, wildlife and the boats.

  • Thrigby Hall Museum Gardens — just 10 miles down the road and past Filby Broad is an incredible range of animals, including snow leopards, red pandas and gibbons, as well as a range of treetop and tunnel walks. Without a doubt a real local family favourite.
